If a referral discount is not applied at checkout, do not pay yet. Check you qualify and look at the final total. Ask the pharmacy to correct the price before payment. Do not count on a refund afterwards, and never open another account to force the code through.

Check the final total after you enter a referral code
Trust the final amount to pay. A link opening proves nothing. Check even a “code accepted” message against the final total. Confirm the exact service, order, delivery and any compulsory charge.
A promotion may change the base price, replace another discount or cover only part of the order. Ask for a breakdown if the number does not match the advertised benefit. What the referrer earns is separate from what you should save.
Use a referral link at a pharmacy you have not used
Referral offers usually depend on you being new to the pharmacy. That is the first cause in the list below. A code for the pharmacy you already use often fails for that reason.
Skip the hunt through Facebook groups. A friend’s link is worth using for a pharmacy you have never ordered from. Or compare first-order prices on Monj, iGovy, Ogovy or Dayo. Read why switching beats hunting for codes.
Why a referral discount does not apply: six causes to check
- Eligibility: are you new to the pharmacy or service under this offer’s rules?
- Scope: does the offer cover this order and your customer group?
- Minimum spend: what counts towards the threshold, and is delivery left out?
- Clashing offers: did an existing offer replace the referral discount?
- Timing: is the offer still valid, and must you add the code before payment?
- Reward type: is the benefit instant, or a later credit with conditions?
These are causes to check. They do not diagnose any one pharmacy’s checkout. The company should tell you which one applies.
What to ask the pharmacy before you pay
Send this message:
I expected the referral offer shown here to apply to this quote. Please confirm whether I qualify, the discount I get, the final amount to pay and whether the offer changes my repeat price or plan commitment.
Use the pharmacy’s official contact channel. Send only the order or offer details needed. Never give the person who shared the code your login, payment details or clinical records so they can “fix” the problem.
MedExpress’s own discount help page is one example of where to check a pharmacy’s eligibility rules. Check other companies’ rules separately.
Compare the corrected quote with other pharmacies
If you qualify and the pharmacy corrects the total, compare the corrected amount with other suitable quotes. If you do not qualify, compare the full price honestly. A price enquiry does not oblige you to go ahead.
If the pharmacy offers future credit in place of the instant saving, decide whether the credit is any use to you. Get the amount, expiry and restrictions in writing. Our guide to the real value of referral credit explains why credit and an instant saving are different things.
Referral discount missing after you have paid
Contact the pharmacy promptly with the offer and the order confirmation. Ask whether the pharmacy can correct the charge. Ask separately how far the order has been processed. Do not place a replacement order until the first one is sorted out.
A correction request does not promise a refund. Cancelling a future renewal may not cancel an order already being prepared. Use the pharmacy’s own terms and complaints process if needed. Keep dated records of the quote, payment and reply.
If time or cost puts your treatment at risk, contact the clinical team too. Do not put off needed care while you chase a code.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my referral code not working at checkout?
Common causes are eligibility, offer scope, a minimum spend, an existing offer replacing the referral discount, timing, or a reward paid later as credit. Ask the pharmacy to confirm which cause applies to your order before you pay.
Should I hunt for a referral code for the pharmacy I already use?
Usually no. Referral offers normally depend on you being new to the pharmacy. Use a friend’s referral link for a pharmacy you have never ordered from, or compare first-order prices on Monj, iGovy, Ogovy or Dayo.
Will I get a refund if my referral discount was not applied?
Not necessarily. A correction request does not promise a refund. Contact the pharmacy promptly with the offer and order confirmation, ask whether the charge can be corrected, and keep dated records of the quote, payment and reply.
Should I open a new account to use a referral code?
No. Do not create another account to force a referral code through. Ask the pharmacy to confirm whether you qualify, the discount you get and the final amount to pay before you pay.
Should I give my login to the person who shared a referral code?
No. Never give the person who shared a referral code your login, payment details or clinical records. Contact the pharmacy through its official channel and send only the order or offer details needed.
